TIMES 2.0

The mandate of the Yonge Street Mission is to end chronic poverty in one generation. To that end, it has created TIMES (Transformation Integrated Measurement and Evaluation System) as a commitment to data-driven design and decision making to tackle the poverty issue.

The TIMES 2.0 research project helps harness this intelligence, evolve the work, and invite partners to dismantle systems that bind whole populations in poverty. This initiative will strengthen and scale TIMES by migrating onto a more robust online platform, inviting partners to improve the framework and the organization’s capacity to develop people for employment.

Future Skills Centre is investing $641,178 in this 2-year project. The team will be able to better understand and support the journey to gainful employment for those facing multiple barriers. With a goal of ending chronic poverty, the team must zero in on root causes and barriers that keep people trapped in poverty and deter their ability to be job-ready. This project will translate data into insights and action.

The goal is to understand better the connections and connectivity of an individual’s circumstance and improve the capacity to develop people for employment. By migrating to a more powerful and collaborative platform, the team can scale this out across the city of Toronto and gain greater clarity around the role of housing, mental health, food security and other social determinants of health on one’s ability to access and secure good jobs. This initiative will focus on the migration of the TIMES framework onto a robust cloud-based platform to facilitate better adoption within the organization and the ability to scale with other partners to adopt a holistic perspective to better support individuals and communities.
