Dr. Luanne Freund is an Associate Professor at the iSchool (Library, Archival and Information Studies) at the University of British Columbia and has served as Director since 2015. Dr. Freund teaches courses on information retrieval, information services and open data. Her research is primarily focused on the human-centred aspects of information retrieval and the ways in which people interact with and make sense of digital information. She is a partner in the Designing for People research cluster at UBC and leads the Digital Information Interaction Group (DiiG) at the iSchool. Dr. Freund has has published extensively in the areas of interactive information retrieval, open data and information access.
