Valerie Lockyer, B. Com has spent nearly 30 years in the employment services sector, including more than 15 years as a senior leader in the design, development and implementation of innovative employment and skills training programs.

As Executive Director of the Training Group at Douglas College, Valerie manages a staff of more than 100 to provide services, training and support to youth, immigrants and refugees, persons with disabilities, long term unemployed, mature workers and persons with multiple barriers to employment including low literacy and essential skills.

Valerie and her team also work collaboratively with employers to develop and deliver training customized to meet the employer’s specific workforce development needs; ranging from customized online courses for on-boarding and job specific skills training to customer service and supervisory development training.
