Future Skills Centre launches Skills Horizon Calls for Proposals to address emerging skills and labour challenges
October 30, 2024
Toronto, Ontario – The Future Skills Centre (FSC) is pleased to announce the launch of Skills Horizon, two new calls for proposals with $9M in total funding. We invite organizations based in Canada to apply. Submit applications by December 13, 2024.
We are looking to support initiatives addressing the most critical and emerging skills challenges for the future of work in Canada through research, solution design and piloting new approaches related to our five Focus Areas: Pathways to Jobs, Tech & Automation, SME Adaptability, Inclusive Economy and Sustainable Jobs.
We welcome proposals with forward-thinking approaches through two calls for proposals:
- The Skills Solutions call aims to fund projects addressing emerging labour market challenges, whether through solution design or through advancing skills initiatives based on evidence of what has worked.
- The Skills Research call aims to fund research projects that address key knowledge gaps or explore emerging issues shaping Canada’s labour market.
Over the last five years, FSC has continued to lead on skills research and delivery innovation, producing evidence and mobilizing insights to scale promising solutions that strengthen Canada’s workforce for the future. We work with a diverse network of partners from coast-to-coast-to-coast to invest in solutions and catalyze systems change, with a strong focus on equity, diversity, inclusion and Reconciliation.
“The Future Skills Centre is building on our momentum as we seek partnerships to develop the next generation of insights and solutions for a strong labour market and equitable future of work,” says Noel Baldwin, executive director of the Future Skills Centre.
As part of our ongoing activities and extension of our mandate until 2026, this is an opportunity to further build on the evidence we are uncovering on effective skills development policy, practice, and innovation.
