We test big ideas to prepare Canada for the future of work.
The Future Skills Centre is a pan-Canadian leader in the skills and workforce development space, strengthening the link between skills training, sector demands, and labour market outcomes. As jobs and skill requirements change, Canada’s path to a future-ready workforce begins with investing in skills.

"To support Canada’s ambitions – more housing, a modernized electric grid, a self-reliant inclusive economy – we need people with the right skills, in the right places, at the right time. We also need training systems that can adapt to the next challenge. That’s where the unique value of the Future Skills Centre lies."
Noel Baldwin, Executive Director
Future Skills Centre
Our work generates the evidence that advances Canada’s labour market and the systems that empower workers, employers and communities to thrive.
We drive change by:
Testing and piloting the next big ideas in skills development, supporting real-world experimentation.
Partnering for maximum impact with governments, employers, labour groups, educators, and community organizations nationwide.
Scaling proven solutions so they reach more people, places, and sectors.
Applying rigorous evaluation and mobilizing insights to advance smarter policies and practices.
Our Unique Partnership Model
We are powered by a Canada-wide network of 5,000+ partners committed to solving Canada’s most pressing labour market challenges. More than just a funder, we are an active partner in every project we support. We ask more of our partners — prioritizing collaboration, shared learning and openness — to foster long-term relationships and enable the ambitious approaches needed to drive real change.
At its core, the Future Skills Centre operates as a consortium of Toronto Metropolitan University, Signal49 Research, and Blueprint, with key contributions from the Diversity Institute and Magnet. We are funded by the Government of Canada’s Future Skills Program.
