Valentina is a researcher whose focus is on ecosystem skills development and gender issues. Her background includes Master\u2019s degrees from McMaster University (MA – English) and Brock University (MEd \u2013 Social and Cultural Contexts). Her research interests across disciplines, has dealt with the issues of marginalization, systemic racism, and gender bias. Previously, her research in adult education with marginalized groups led to SSHRC funded research, focusing on post-secondary education and skills training for marginalized and previously-incarcerated women. Additionally, she has been involved in longitudinal research in educational psychology with adolescents and Theory of Mind at Brock University. At the Diversity Institute, Valentina has been involved in many projects highlighting skills development and gender barriers. Valentina had the rewarding experience of participating in the Regional Sounding Tours (in partnership with Future Skills Centre and Conference Board of Canada) and learning first- hand what current themes concern people in Canada today.
