Les travaux de recherche d\u00e9montrent le potentiel de l\u2019IA \u00e0 l\u2019appui de l\u2019apprentissage des langues. Parall\u00e8lement, l\u2019IA stimule le d\u00e9veloppement d\u2019une gamme d\u2019outils facilitant tant la traduction de documents \u00e9crits que la communication en temps r\u00e9el, ce qui peut s\u2019av\u00e9rer un atout comme un frein pour l\u2019apprentissage des langues. Les outils d\u2019intelligence artificielle, notamment les applications de traduction automatique (TA), se g\u00e9n\u00e9ralisent dans les milieux d\u2019apprentissage des langues.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\">Ce rapport examine l\u2019utilisation des outils de traduction automatique au Qu\u00e9bec en analysant les r\u00e9sultats d\u2019un sondage en ligne men\u00e9 aupr\u00e8s de 1 000&nbsp;personnes par l\u2019Association d\u2019\u00e9tudes canadiennes en septembre 2023. L\u2019enqu\u00eate a r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9 que les participants utilisaient l\u2019IA pour surmonter les barri\u00e8res linguistiques, acc\u00e9der \u00e0 des informations et s\u2019orienter dans les domaines professionnel, juridique et m\u00e9dical. Cependant, de nombreux adultes, en particulier les immigrants et les nouveaux arrivants, se heurtent \u00e0 des obstacles persistants en mati\u00e8re d\u2019acquisition linguistique. Au Qu\u00e9bec, le fran\u00e7ais s\u2019impose comme langue principale : 74,8\u00a0% de la population l\u2019a comme langue maternelle et 93,7\u00a0% ont une connaissance du fran\u00e7ais permettant de le parler. Pourtant, le Qu\u00e9bec compte \u00e9galement une importante population anglophone : 7,6\u00a0% des r\u00e9sidents ont l\u2019anglais comme langue maternelle, et environ la moiti\u00e9 de la population de la province (51,7\u00a0%) est en mesure de le parler. Par ailleurs, pr\u00e8s de la moiti\u00e9 de la population de la province (46,4\u00a0%) est bilingue fran\u00e7ais-anglais (<a href=\"https:\/\/www12.statcan.gc.ca\/census-recensement\/2021\/as-sa\/fogs-spg\/page.cfm?Lang=F&amp;topic=6&amp;dguid=2021A000224\">Statistique Canada, 2025<\/a>). Le projet comprend une analyse documentaire offrant un cadre de r\u00e9f\u00e9rence sur les technologies de TA, y compris les syst\u00e8mes de traduction neuronale et les grands mod\u00e8les linguistiques, tout en abordant leurs avantages et leurs d\u00e9fis potentiels. Le projet examine \u00e9galement l\u2019utilisation des outils de traduction automatique au Qu\u00e9bec en analysant les r\u00e9sultats d\u2019un sondage en ligne men\u00e9 aupr\u00e8s de 1 000\u00a0personnes par l\u2019Association d\u2019\u00e9tudes canadiennes en septembre 2023. Cet ordre de pr\u00e9f\u00e9rence \u00e9tait le m\u00eame chez les personnes interrog\u00e9es n\u00e9es au Canada et \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9tranger, qu\u2019elles soient francophones ou anglophones. Cependant, les allophones avaient davantage tendance \u00e0 recourir \u00e0 la traduction automatique (TA) pour la diffusion d\u2019informations (48\u00a0%) que pour leur assimilation (44\u00a0%).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tous les groupes de personnes interrog\u00e9es accordaient une plus grande confiance aux humains qu\u2019aux outils de TA pour transposer des textes d\u2019une langue \u00e0 l\u2019autre. Cependant, pr\u00e8s de la moiti\u00e9 (47\u00a0%) des personnes interrog\u00e9es faisaient autant confiance aux humains qu\u2019aux outils de traduction automatique.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Les personnes interrog\u00e9es n\u00e9es \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9tranger \u00e9taient plus enclines que celles n\u00e9es au Canada \u00e0 faire confiance \u00e0 la traduction automatique (TA) \u00e0 des fins de divertissement (74\u00a0% contre 70\u00a0%), ainsi que dans les milieux professionnel (75\u00a0% contre 64\u00a0%), juridique (49\u00a0% contre 37\u00a0%) et m\u00e9dical (57\u00a0% contre 49\u00a0%)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Les allophones \u00e9taient plus enclins que les francophones et les anglophones \u00e0 faire confiance \u00e0 la traduction automatique (TA) \u00e0 des fins de divertissement, ainsi que dans les domaines juridique et m\u00e9dical. Cependant, les anglophones avaient davantage tendance \u00e0 faire confiance \u00e0 la traduction automatique (TA) dans le cadre professionnel. Les francophones, les anglophones et les allophones faisaient tous preuve d\u2019un niveau de confiance similaire envers la traduction automatique (TA) \u00e0 des fins p\u00e9dagogiques.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Les personnes interrog\u00e9es n\u00e9es \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9tranger \u00e9taient nettement plus enclines que celles n\u00e9es au Canada \u00e0 utiliser la traduction automatique (TA) pour traduire\u00a0: de l\u2019anglais vers une langue autre que le fran\u00e7ais; d\u2019une langue autre que le fran\u00e7ais vers l\u2019anglais; et d\u2019une langue autre que l\u2019anglais vers le fran\u00e7ais. Il en allait de m\u00eame pour les allophones par rapport aux francophones et aux anglophones.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Parmi les immigrants, ceux qui d\u00e9claraient avoir une bonne connaissance de l\u2019anglais \u00e9taient plus enclins que ceux qui affichaient une tr\u00e8s bonne connaissance de cette langue \u00e0 utiliser des outils de traduction bas\u00e9s sur l\u2019apprentissage automatique (79\u00a0% contre 56\u00a0%), \u00e0 recourir \u00e0 un outil de traduction automatique (TA) pour des interactions facilit\u00e9es par la traduction (39\u00a0% contre 8\u00a0%) et \u00e0 estimer que la TA peut contribuer \u00e0 am\u00e9liorer la ma\u00eetrise d\u2019une langue seconde (87\u00a0% contre 80\u00a0%). Toutefois, l\u2019acc\u00e8s \u00e0 la formation linguistique se heurte souvent \u00e0 des limites, notamment dans les collectivit\u00e9s rurales et \u00e9loign\u00e9es o\u00f9 les capacit\u00e9s de prestation de services et les infrastructures de connectivit\u00e9 \u00e0 haut d\u00e9bit sont sous-d\u00e9velopp\u00e9es. De plus, de nombreuses personnes font face \u00e0 des obstacles \u00e0 l\u2019apprentissage des langues li\u00e9s \u00e0 la connectivit\u00e9 Internet haut d\u00e9bit, \u00e0 la litt\u00e9ratie num\u00e9rique, aux transports, \u00e0 la rigidit\u00e9 des horaires de travail et aux responsabilit\u00e9s familiales. La traduction automatique ne doit donc pas \u00eatre consid\u00e9r\u00e9e simplement comme une technologie \u00e9mergente, mais plut\u00f4t comme un outil essentiel pour de nombreux apprenants en langues dans la province. Ces constats soulignent le besoin de politiques publiques favorisant l\u2019apprentissage des langues par le num\u00e9rique, assorties de directives claires quant \u00e0 l\u2019usage \u00e9thique et ad\u00e9quat de la TA et des autres technologies bas\u00e9es sur l\u2019IA. Les organisations et les pouvoirs publics qui omettent de prendre en consid\u00e9ration la fa\u00e7on dont les apprenants en langues utilisent les technologies risquent de concevoir des services qui s\u2019\u00e9cartent de leur r\u00e9alit\u00e9 v\u00e9cue. En revanche, celles qui int\u00e8grent une utilisation de la technologie fond\u00e9e sur des donn\u00e9es probantes peuvent am\u00e9liorer les r\u00e9sultats en mati\u00e8re d\u2019apprentissage des langues. Les progr\u00e8s rapides de la traduction automatique (TA) et d\u2019autres outils propuls\u00e9s par l\u2019intelligence artificielle (IA) transforment profond\u00e9ment l\u2019apprentissage des langues; les politiques publiques doivent donc \u00e9voluer en cons\u00e9quence pour refl\u00e9ter les pratiques linguistiques r\u00e9elles.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"whats-next\" risques associ\u00e9s.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sensibiliser les utilisateurs dans les milieux professionnels, juridiques et m\u00e9dicaux aux probl\u00e8mes potentiels de fiabilit\u00e9 li\u00e9s \u00e0 la traduction automatique.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Soutenir le d\u00e9veloppement et l\u2019adoption de la traduction automatique (TA) adapt\u00e9e \u00e0 la diversit\u00e9 des origines linguistiques des immigrants canadiens, y compris les allophones.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Encourager les partenariats entre les instances gouvernementales, le secteur technologique et les services d\u2019accueil et
