Il a d&#8217;abord d\u00e9crit bri\u00e8vement la situation actuelle des femmes qui ne prennent pas le chemin lin\u00e9aire habituel de l&#8217;\u00e9cole secondaire \u00e0 l&#8217;universit\u00e9 et la vie professionnelle. Il examine la fa\u00e7on dont le syst\u00e8me actuel peut n\u00e9gliger leurs capacit\u00e9s et met en \u00e9vidence le potentiel qu&#8217;ils doivent contribuer de mani\u00e8re significative au march\u00e9 du travail canadien et de l&#8217;\u00e9conomie. Il r\u00e9sume les d\u00e9fis auxquels ils sont confront\u00e9s et propose des pistes potentielles pour des solutions et des strat\u00e9gies qui peuvent aider \u00e0 am\u00e9liorer leurs chances de contribuer \u00e0 l&#8217;innovation au Canada. Les donn\u00e9es montrent que les \u00e9tudiants deviennent matures une grande partie des \u00e9tablissements d&#8217;enseignement sup\u00e9rieur du Canada et en g\u00e9n\u00e9ral ont un meilleur taux de r\u00e9ussite que les \u00e9tudiants provenant directement de l&#8217;\u00e9cole secondaire ou c\u00c3 \u00a9 GEP, dans Qu\u00c3 \u00a9 bec. Les obstacles peuvent \u00eatre nombreuses pour les femmes matures qui sont int\u00e9ress\u00e9s \u00e0 revenir \u00e0 l&#8217;enseignement sup\u00e9rieur, et notamment les conditions d&#8217;entr\u00e9e et les crit\u00e8res d&#8217;admission, le manque ou un soutien limit\u00e9 (par exemple financier, garde d&#8217;enfants, etc.), et la marginalisation et les perceptions n\u00e9gatives. Mise en place des r\u00e9seaux ou des groupes de soutien pour les femmes matures dans STEM et m\u00e9tiers, ainsi que le changement de culture institutionnelle, sont parmi quelques-unes des strat\u00e9gies qui ont \u00e9t\u00e9 mises en avant dans les trois tables rondes qui ont \u00e9t\u00e9 organis\u00e9es pour discuter de la question.
