Cependant, le profil d\u00e9mographique des immigrants au Canada et leurs besoins changent. Au cours des derni\u00e8res d\u00e9cennies ont vu une augmentation du nombre d&#8217;immigrants professionnels hautement qualifi\u00e9s de pays non traditionnels d&#8217;immigration. Bien que g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement pas pens\u00e9 dans la profession de travail social en tant que population vuln\u00e9rable, ce groupe fait face \u00e0 de multiples oppressions au Canada. Cet article pr\u00e9sente les r\u00e9sultats de 20 entretiens approfondis avec des ing\u00e9nieurs form\u00e9s \u00e0 l&#8217;\u00e9tranger et leurs exp\u00e9riences de discrimination soit pendant la recherche de travail ou dans le lieu de travail apr\u00e8s l&#8217;emploi a \u00e9t\u00e9 fix\u00e9. Deux principales conclusions qui se d\u00e9gagent de cette \u00e9tude ont des informations importantes pour la pratique du travail social. Le premier indique les ing\u00e9nieurs form\u00e9s \u00e0 l&#8217;\u00e9tranger discrimin\u00e9 pour plusieurs axes se rapportant \u00e0 leur identit\u00e9 sociale. La seconde r\u00e9v\u00e8le que quelques participants ne se consid\u00e8rent pas comme des victimes de la discrimination, m\u00eame si elles ont reconnu la discrimination pour \u00eatre en jeu alors que d&#8217;autres comme eux ont \u00e9t\u00e9 incapables de trouver des emplois comme ing\u00e9nieurs. Les r\u00e9sultats remettent en question les vues traditionnelles qui constituent des populations vuln\u00e9rables et bouleversent les notions de populations immigr\u00e9es qui ont besoin l&#8217;intervention sociale seulement au moment o\u00f9 ils sont incapables de faire face \u00e0 leurs adaptations culturelles et sociales.
