d\u2019importants obstacles pour poursuivre des \u00e9tudes et des carri\u00e8res dans le domaine des STIM, notamment un faible taux d\u2019ach\u00e8vement des \u00e9tudes secondaires, un manque de syst\u00e8mes de soutien culturellement adapt\u00e9s, une int\u00e9gration inad\u00e9quate des connaissances autochtones dans les programmes d\u2019\u00e9tudes et le traumatisme interg\u00e9n\u00e9rationnel du colonialisme.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ce projet a organis\u00e9 des camps sur le terrain qui visaient \u00e0 combiner les connaissances autochtones et l\u2019enseignement des STIM. En permettant aux jeunes autochtones d\u2019acc\u00e9der \u00e0 un enseignement des STIM conforme \u00e0 leurs valeurs et perspectives culturelles, le projet visait \u00e0 leur donner les moyens de poursuivre leurs aspirations en mati\u00e8re de STIM et de contribuer de mani\u00e8re utile \u00e0 leurs communaut\u00e9s et au monde.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Outre un sentiment d\u2019appartenance accru, les participants des Territoires du Nord-Ouest et de l\u2019Alberta ont am\u00e9lior\u00e9 leur compr\u00e9hension du savoir autochtone fond\u00e9 sur le territoire, renfor\u00e7ant ainsi le lien entre la sagesse traditionnelle et les disciplines contemporaines des STIM. Les participants ont obtenu de pr\u00e9cieux cr\u00e9dits d\u2019\u00e9tudes secondaires pour leur participation aux camps, ce qui a favoris\u00e9 les progr\u00e8s scolaires et augment\u00e9 les chances d\u2019obtenir un dipl\u00f4me de fin d\u2019\u00e9tudes secondaires.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\">Bien que l\u2019impact \u00e0 long terme sur les taux d\u2019obtention de dipl\u00f4mes d\u2019\u00e9tudes secondaires et sur les carri\u00e8res dans les STIM n\u2019ait pas encore \u00e9t\u00e9 enti\u00e8rement \u00e9valu\u00e9, les r\u00e9sultats positifs du projet et les commentaires encourageants sugg\u00e8rent qu\u2019il pourrait avoir un impact durable sur l\u2019engagement des jeunes autochtones dans les STIM. margin-right: 16px;\" src=\"https:\/\/fsc-ccf.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/No-1.svg\" alt=\"\">Les jeunes et les instructeurs qui ont particip\u00e9 aux camps sur le territoire ont manifest\u00e9 un plus grand int\u00e9r\u00eat et ont fait \u00e9tat de niveaux d\u2019apprentissage plus \u00e9lev\u00e9s lorsque le contenu et les activit\u00e9s \u00e9taient dispens\u00e9s ou pr\u00e9sent\u00e9s par le personnel et les invit\u00e9s autochtones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-flex\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-243230\" style=\"width: 40px; top: -2px;\" src=\"https:\/\/fsc-ccf.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Fill-1.svg\" alt=\"\"> Ce que nous examinons<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Fort de plusieurs dizaines d\u2019ann\u00e9es d\u2019exp\u00e9rience dans la mise en \u0153uvre de programmes STIM pour la jeunesse autochtone, ce projet vise \u00e0 inspirer les jeunes autochtones et \u00e0 leur donner les moyens de poursuivre des \u00e9tudes et des carri\u00e8res dans le domaine des STIM et de contribuer \u00e0 leurs communaut\u00e9s et au monde.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ce projet a permis \u00e0 des jeunes autochtones des Territoires du Nord-Ouest et de l\u2019Alberta de vivre des exp\u00e9riences culturellement pertinentes, bas\u00e9es sur le territoire et donnant droit \u00e0 des cr\u00e9dits, en associant les connaissances autochtones et les concepts des STIM. Le projet a \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9alis\u00e9 en collaboration avec des organisations autochtones, des conseils scolaires, des prestataires de services \u00e9ducatifs et des partenaires industriels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le projet comportait trois volets principaux&nbsp;: des camps sur le terrain, des volets scolaires et une formation pour les \u00e9ducateurs, tous ax\u00e9s sur les liens entre les connaissances autochtones et les sciences de la vie et de la terre.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Les camps sur le territoire sont des exp\u00e9riences immersives qui se d\u00e9roulent dans des environnements naturels et qui permettent aux jeunes de participer \u00e0 des activit\u00e9s pratiques, notamment la construction d\u2019abris, faire du feu, identifier les plantes et comprendre leurs propri\u00e9t\u00e9s m\u00e9dicinales, la r\u00e9colte durable d\u2019animaux et la gestion de l\u2019eau. Les camps ont donn\u00e9 la priorit\u00e9 \u00e0 des programmes dirig\u00e9s par la communaut\u00e9 et refl\u00e9tant les origines et les contextes des \u00e9tudiants, en adaptant le contenu et les m\u00e9thodes d\u2019enseignement aux besoins locaux.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Les volets scolaires ont \u00e9t\u00e9 dispens\u00e9s dans des classes de secondaire li\u00e9es aux STIM et comportant une composante territoriale, comme les sciences de l\u2019environnement, la biologie ou la g\u00e9ographie. Les composantes scolaires ont compl\u00e9t\u00e9 les camps sur le territoire en fournissant des connaissances plus approfondies et th\u00e9oriques sur les th\u00e8mes des STIM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le programme a \u00e9galement offert une formation aux \u00e9ducateurs (c\u2019est-\u00e0-dire aux instructeurs de camps et aux enseignants du secondaire) ax\u00e9e sur l\u2019intersection des connaissances autochtones et des STIM, afin de s\u2019assurer qu\u2019ils sont pr\u00e9par\u00e9s \u00e0 soutenir l\u2019apprentissage et la croissance des jeunes autochtones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le projet visait \u00e0 accro\u00eetre les comp\u00e9tences, les connaissances, la confiance et la fiert\u00e9 des participants \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9gard des STIM et de la culture.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le projet a \u00e9galement permis de tester le nouveau mod\u00e8le d\u2019Actua pour la d\u00e9livrance de cr\u00e9dits, ce qui a permis \u00e0 Actua de conf\u00e9rer des cr\u00e9dits directement aux \u00e9tudiants dans certaines r\u00e9gions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"what-were-learning\" class=\"wp-block-ob-blocks-anchor-point\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-28f84493 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column gradient-top purple is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:100%\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-black-color has-text-color\" id=\"TheResult\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-240819\" style=\"width: 24px;height: 24px;margin-right: 10px;position: relative; top: -2px;\" src=\"https:\/\/fsc-ccf.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Fill-1-1.svg\" alt=\"\"> C<strong>e que nous apprenons<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Une centaine de jeunes ont particip\u00e9 aux camps sur le terrain dans les Territoires du Nord-Ouest et en Alberta. Presque tous les participants qui ont r\u00e9pondu \u00e0 une enqu\u00eate apr\u00e8s le camp ont d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que le programme leur avait permis de mieux comprendre les connaissances autochtones li\u00e9es au territoire, en citant la nourriture et la r\u00e9colte, la m\u00e9decine et la gu\u00e9rison, ainsi que la navigation \u00e0 l\u2019aide de points de rep\u00e8re et d\u2019\u00e9toiles. Presque tous les participants ont obtenu des cr\u00e9dits en vue de l\u2019obtention de leur dipl\u00f4me d\u2019\u00e9tudes secondaires.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>L\u2019impact de l\u2019initiative autochtone<\/strong><br>La conception et la mise en \u0153uvre du projet ont \u00e9t\u00e9 men\u00e9es par des leaders autochtones et des praticiens de la culture, qui ont reli\u00e9 les participants \u00e0 leur patrimoine et \u00e0 leur identit\u00e9. Les participants et les instructeurs se sont montr\u00e9s plus int\u00e9ress\u00e9s et ont fait \u00e9tat de niveaux d\u2019apprentissage plus \u00e9lev\u00e9s lorsque le contenu et les activit\u00e9s \u00e9taient dispens\u00e9s ou pr\u00e9sent\u00e9s par du personnel et des invit\u00e9s autochtones. Cela a \u00e9galement contribu\u00e9 au sentiment d\u2019appartenance et de communaut\u00e9; une base essentielle pour la poursuite de l\u2019apprentissage et de la croissance et \u00e0 la reconnaissance de la valeur du savoir autochtone. Les \u00e9valuations du projet ont r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9 la n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 de redoubler d\u2019efforts pour recruter des instructeurs autochtones pour les camps. Les instructeurs autochtones et non autochtones ont estim\u00e9 que les instructeurs autochtones \u00e9taient mieux pr\u00e9par\u00e9s \u00e0 \u00e9tablir des liens entre les connaissances autochtones et les connaissances en STIM, et que les participants semblaient r\u00e9agir davantage aux activit\u00e9s et aux le\u00e7ons dirig\u00e9es par les instructeurs autochtones.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>L\u2019enseignant, c\u2019est la terre<\/strong><br>L\u2019apprentissage par l\u2019exp\u00e9rience et l\u2019application ont fait partie int\u00e9grante de la concr\u00e9tisation des connaissances autochtones pour les participants. Sortir des salles de classe conventionnelles et s\u2019engager dans des activit\u00e9s pratiques sur le terrain a permis \u00e0 de nombreux participants de s\u2019engager d\u2019une mani\u00e8re que le syst\u00e8me d\u2019\u00e9ducation traditionnel ne permet pas. L\u2019utilisation conjointe de la nature et de la technologie pour les randonn\u00e9es p\u00e9destres et les excursions en cano\u00eb, par exemple, a r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9 de mani\u00e8re pratique aux participants l\u2019importance des connaissances autochtones et des STIM, ainsi que les liens qui existent entre elles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>L\u2019importance du sentiment d\u2019appartenance<\/strong><br>Le d\u00e9veloppement d\u2019un sentiment d\u2019appartenance chez les jeunes autochtones est une premi\u00e8re \u00e9tape essentielle dans l\u2019acquisition de comp\u00e9tences et de connaissances, car il permet de reconna\u00eetre et de traiter les effets actifs et persistants du colonialisme et des pensionnats autochtones sur la communaut\u00e9 et la confiance en soi. Comme l\u2019ont indiqu\u00e9 certains membres du personnel et des a\u00een\u00e9s lors de conversations avec les \u00e9quipes d\u2019\u00e9valuation, le d\u00e9veloppement d\u2019un int\u00e9r\u00eat pour les connaissances, les pratiques et les STIM autochtones est vou\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chec si les jeunes autochtones n\u2019ont pas le sentiment que les lieux et les communaut\u00e9s o\u00f9 se d\u00e9roulent les activit\u00e9s sont leurs lieux et leurs communaut\u00e9s. Les \u00e9tablissements d\u2019enseignement g\u00e9n\u00e9ral ont \u00e9t\u00e9 des environnements hostiles pour de nombreux jeunes autochtones &#8211; des lieux o\u00f9 la culture et les connaissances autochtones sont souvent rejet\u00e9es comme ayant moins de valeur, et o\u00f9 les jeunes autochtones ont \u00e9t\u00e9 confront\u00e9s \u00e0 un racisme individuel et structurel. Pour r\u00e9ussir, les camps sur le territoire doivent veiller \u00e0 ce que les jeunes autochtones se sentent accueillis, valoris\u00e9s et qu\u2019ils aient le sentiment d\u2019appartenir au groupe et \u00e0 la communaut\u00e9. Le personnel, les instructeurs et les a\u00een\u00e9s ont tent\u00e9 de favoriser l\u2019appartenance par la conversation, les activit\u00e9s partag\u00e9es et le renforcement positif, notamment en mettant l\u2019accent sur les id\u00e9aux de paix, de respect, de r\u00e9ciprocit\u00e9 et de &#8220;toutes mes relations&#8221;. Les activit\u00e9s de groupe, les encouragements \u00e0 complimenter les autres et la n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 de travailler en \u00e9quipe (comme pour le cano\u00eb) contribuent \u00e0 ce sentiment d\u2019appartenance et de valeur au sein de la communaut\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Formation pour les instructeurs non autochtones<\/strong><br>Les \u00e9valuations ont r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9 la n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 d\u2019une formation plus intensive pour les \u00e9ducateurs non autochtones en ce qui concerne les connaissances autochtones, les liens avec les STIM et, en particulier, le contexte dans lequel de nombreux participants autochtones arrivent au camp (par exemple, l\u2019h\u00e9ritage du colonialisme, les pensionnats autochtones, et d\u2019autres consid\u00e9rations).
