derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es, les jeunes ont \u00e9t\u00e9 confront\u00e9s \u00e0 des difficult\u00e9s sur le march\u00e9 du travail. Les fermetures dues \u00e0 la pand\u00e9mie ont eu un effet sur l\u2019\u00e9cole et le travail de la plupart des jeunes, tandis que l\u2019acc\u00e9l\u00e9ration des changements technologiques et la pr\u00e9valence croissante de l\u2019emploi \u00e0 la demande (caract\u00e9ris\u00e9 par un travail \u00e0 court terme, \u00e0 la demande et bas\u00e9 sur des t\u00e2ches) ont eu un effet n\u00e9gatif sur la qualit\u00e9 de l\u2019emploi des jeunes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cette recherche a explor\u00e9 la qualit\u00e9 du travail pour les jeunes (\u00e2g\u00e9s de 16 \u00e0 29&nbsp;ans), en Ontario, \u00e0 travers leurs propres exp\u00e9riences et leurs propres mots. Dans le cadre de ce projet, plus de 1100&nbsp;jeunes ont \u00e9t\u00e9 interrog\u00e9s et 43 d\u2019entre eux ont fait l\u2019objet d\u2019un entretien approfondi sur leur parcours professionnel.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Les r\u00e9sultats r\u00e9v\u00e8lent que les jeunes interrog\u00e9s consid\u00e8rent qu\u2019un bon travail inclut une bonne r\u00e9mun\u00e9ration, un traitement \u00e9quitable, le sentiment d\u2019\u00eatre respect\u00e9 et la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 de l\u2019emploi. Malheureusement, un trop grand nombre de jeunes ayant particip\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9tude ont fait \u00e9tat d\u2019exp\u00e9riences de discrimination et de harc\u00e8lement au travail, g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement de la part de responsables ou de superviseurs. De nombreux jeunes d\u00e9clarent r\u00e9sister \u00e0 un emploi de qualit\u00e9 m\u00e9diocre en d\u00e9missionnant, en exprimant des plaintes individuelles ou collectives \u00e0 la direction, en faisant correspondre un salaire minimal \u00e0 un effort de travail minimal ou en soutenant la syndicalisation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\">Les employeurs qui cherchent \u00e0 attirer et \u00e0 retenir les jeunes travailleurs peuvent s\u2019efforcer d\u2019am\u00e9liorer la qualit\u00e9 de l\u2019emploi pour ce groupe, en proposant des salaires comp\u00e9titifs et en veillant \u00e0 ce que les responsables et les superviseurs soient form\u00e9s pour \u00eatre justes et respectueux \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9gard des jeunes. Les d\u00e9fenseurs des travailleurs et les syndicats peuvent d\u00e9velopper les efforts d\u2019\u00e9ducation sur les droits des travailleurs qui ciblent les jeunes, et s\u2019assurer que ces efforts refl\u00e8tent les changements r\u00e9cents sur le march\u00e9 du travail.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group key-insights-grey has-background is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\" style=\"background-color:#0000000d\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-28f84493 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Perspective cl\u00e9&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-default is-flex\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-243230\" style=\"width: 40px;margin-right: 16px\" src=\"https:\/\/fsc-ccf.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/No.svg\" alt=\"\">81&nbsp;% des jeunes interrog\u00e9s consid\u00e8rent qu\u2019une bonne r\u00e9mun\u00e9ration et un traitement \u00e9quitable sont extr\u00eamement importants dans leur perception de ce qui constitue un \u00ab\u2009bon\u2009\u00bb travail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-flex\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-243230\" style=\"width: 40px;margin-right: 16px\" src=\"https:\/\/fsc-ccf.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/No-1.svg\" alt=\"\">45&nbsp;% des jeunes interrog\u00e9s ont quitt\u00e9 un emploi pr\u00e9c\u00e9dent en raison de mauvaises conditions de travail. Les jeunes issus de groupes historiquement marginalis\u00e9s sur le march\u00e9 du travail \u00e9taient plus susceptibles que les autres de d\u00e9clarer avoir quitt\u00e9 leur emploi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-flex\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-243230\" style=\"width: 40px;margin-right: 16px\" src=\"https:\/\/fsc-ccf.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/No-2.svg\" alt=\"\">Un tiers des jeunes interrog\u00e9s ont d\u00e9clar\u00e9 avoir \u00e9t\u00e9 victimes de discrimination dans leur travail actuel ou pr\u00e9c\u00e9dent, g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement de la part d\u2019un employeur ou d\u2019un superviseur.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"the-issue\" class=\"wp-block-ob-blocks-anchor-point\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-28f84493 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column gradient-top purple is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:100%\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-black-color has-text-color\" id=\"TheChallenge\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-240812\" style=\"width: 12px;height: 24px;margin-right: 10px;position: relative;top: -2px\" src=\"https:\/\/fsc-ccf.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Vector-2.svg\" alt=\"\"> <strong>L\u2019enjeu<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group flex-print is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<p>Les jeunes travailleurs repr\u00e9sentent l\u2019avenir de la main-d\u2019\u0153uvre canadienne, puisqu\u2019ils constituent actuellement un quart de la population active. Peu de g\u00e9n\u00e9rations pr\u00e9c\u00e9dentes sont entr\u00e9es sur un march\u00e9 du travail aussi volatil et d\u00e9favorable que les jeunes d\u2019aujourd\u2019hui.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Les \u00e9tudes existantes r\u00e9v\u00e8lent que les jeunes sont employ\u00e9s de mani\u00e8re disproportionn\u00e9e dans des emplois de qualit\u00e9 m\u00e9diocre. Les premi\u00e8res exp\u00e9riences des individus sur le march\u00e9 du travail peuvent mettre en place des normes et des trajectoires de travail tout au long de la vie, qu\u2019elles soient positives ou n\u00e9gatives. La campagne de m\u00e9dias sociaux a produit 17&nbsp;vid\u00e9os anim\u00e9es sur YouTube (de 2 \u00e0 3&nbsp;minutes chacune), des \u00ab\u2009bandes-annonces\u2009\u00bb optimis\u00e9es pour TikTok pour chaque vid\u00e9o (de 9 \u00e0 10&nbsp;secondes chacune), ainsi qu\u2019un guide de ressources pour les jeunes travailleurs \u00e0 travers le Canada.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>D\u00e9finitions du bon et du mauvais emploi&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Les jeunes interrog\u00e9s ont accord\u00e9 le plus d\u2019importance \u00e0 une&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>bonne r\u00e9mun\u00e9ration, \u00e0 un traitement \u00e9quitable, au sentiment de respect et \u00e0 la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 de l\u2019emploi dans leur d\u00e9finition d\u2019un bon emploi. Ces facteurs ont \u00e9t\u00e9 jug\u00e9s extr\u00eamement importants par plus de 70&nbsp;% des jeunes interrog\u00e9s. Les jeunes ont qualifi\u00e9 le \u00ab\u2009mauvais emploi\u2009\u00bb de \u00ab\u2009mauvais gestionnaires\u2009\u00bb, de \u00ab\u2009discriminations\u2009\u00bb et de \u00ab\u2009bas salaires\u2009\u00bb. Les deux plaintes les plus r\u00e9currentes concernant le mauvais emploi sont li\u00e9es \u00e0 une mauvaise r\u00e9mun\u00e9ration et, plus fr\u00e9quemment encore, \u00e0 de mauvais gestionnaires ou superviseurs (souvent abusifs).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Trop de jeunes sont victimes de discrimination et de harc\u00e8lement au travail<\/strong>. 52&nbsp;% des jeunes interrog\u00e9s ont \u00e9t\u00e9 victimes de discrimination fond\u00e9e sur l\u2019\u00e2ge au travail, g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement de la part de cadres ou de superviseurs. 38&nbsp;% ont d\u00e9clar\u00e9 avoir subi une discrimination fond\u00e9e sur leur sexe et\/ou leur identit\u00e9 de genre et 34&nbsp;% une discrimination fond\u00e9e sur la race ou l\u2019appartenance ethnique. Les jeunes qui ont particip\u00e9 aux entretiens individuels ont r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9 un certain nombre d\u2019exp\u00e9riences professionnelles abusives et traumatisantes. Il s\u2019agissait notamment de r\u00e9cits de racisme manifeste, d\u2019agressions sexuelles et d\u2019autres exp\u00e9riences manifestement discriminatoires et humiliantes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>R\u00e9pondre et s\u2019opposer \u00e0 un emploi de qualit\u00e9 m\u00e9diocre<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Les jeunes ont eu recours \u00e0 des strat\u00e9gies individuelles et collectives pour faire face \u00e0 un mauvais emploi. Certains jeunes travailleurs se sont r\u00e9sign\u00e9s \u00e0 un emploi peu gratifiant, mais 45&nbsp;% des jeunes interrog\u00e9s ont d\u00e9clar\u00e9 avoir quitt\u00e9 leur emploi en raison de mauvaises conditions de travail. Les jeunes ayant un handicap, les autochtones ou les personnes racialis\u00e9es \u00e9taient plus susceptibles que les autres de d\u00e9clarer qu\u2019ils avaient quitt\u00e9 leur emploi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La r\u00e9sistance, individuelle ou collective, est une autre r\u00e9action fr\u00e9quente face \u00e0 un emploi de qualit\u00e9 m\u00e9diocre. Il s\u2019agissait d\u2019exprimer des m\u00e9contentements individuels ou collectifs \u00e0 la direction, de faire correspondre un salaire minimal \u00e0 un effort de travail minimal ou d\u2019appuyer la syndicalisation. De nombreux jeunes ont soulign\u00e9 l\u2019importance de s\u2019informer sur les droits des travailleurs et de plaider en faveur du changement. Les r\u00e9cits de r\u00e9sistance individuelle s\u2019appuient fortement sur la connaissance de la loi par les travailleurs, sur la conscience de leurs droits et sur leur confiance en eux pour s\u2019exprimer.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Les jeunes en savent trop peu sur leurs droits<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>De nombreux jeunes ont d\u00e9clar\u00e9 en savoir relativement peu sur leurs droits en tant que travailleurs ou sur le r\u00f4le des syndicats. Relativement peu de jeunes savent \u00ab\u2009beaucoup\u2009\u00bb de choses sur ce que font les syndicats, mais ceux qui le savent sont g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement positifs dans leurs \u00e9valuations.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"why-it-matters\" class=\"wp-block-ob-blocks-anchor-point\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-28f84493 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column gradient-top purple is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:100%\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-black-color has-text-color\" id=\"TheImpact\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-240819\" style=\"width: 22px;height: 22px;margin-right: 10px;position: relative;top: -2px\" src=\"https:\/\/fsc-ccf.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/Fill-1-2.svg\" alt=\"\"> <strong>Pourquoi c\u2019est important<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:38px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>L\u2019exp\u00e9rience des jeunes en mati\u00e8re d\u2019emploi de moindre qualit\u00e9 est souvent attribu\u00e9e \u00e0 leur inexp\u00e9rience et \u00e0 leur entr\u00e9e r\u00e9cente sur le march\u00e9 du travail. Les mesures couramment recommand\u00e9es pour am\u00e9liorer cette situation sont les suivantes&nbsp;: renforcer l\u2019\u00e9ducation et la formation professionnelle, d\u00e9velopper l\u2019exp\u00e9rience professionnelle par le biais de l\u2019apprentissage int\u00e9gr\u00e9 au travail (c\u2019est-\u00e0-dire les placements d\u2019\u00e9tudiants ou les stages), promouvoir l\u2019esprit d\u2019entreprise chez les jeunes et\/ou modifier le mode de vie personnel des jeunes ou leurs perspectives. Si ces initiatives peuvent \u00eatre fructueuses pour certains, les r\u00e9sultats sugg\u00e8rent que la mauvaise qualit\u00e9 de l\u2019emploi est omnipr\u00e9sente dans l\u2019exp\u00e9rience professionnelle de nombreux jeunes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Les deux principales plaintes des jeunes travailleurs concernent les bas salaires et les mauvais traitements de la part des superviseurs. La volont\u00e9 des jeunes de d\u00e9missionner (ou de cesser de s\u2019engager) en raison de mauvaises conditions de travail a des r\u00e9percussions sur les taux de r\u00e9tention et la productivit\u00e9 des employeurs. En particulier, les gestionnaires\/superviseurs qui ne traitent pas tous les travailleurs de mani\u00e8re \u00e9quitable ou avec respect peuvent \u00eatre \u00e0 l\u2019origine de taux de roulement \u00e9lev\u00e9s. Les employeurs devraient \u00eatre particuli\u00e8rement attentifs \u00e0 cette dynamique sur leur lieu de travail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Il est clair qu\u2019il existe un \u00ab\u2009manque d\u2019information\u2009\u00bb pour certains jeunes travailleurs. Nombre d\u2019entre eux ont de faibles attentes ou supposent que les mauvais traitements, y compris le racisme, le harc\u00e8lement sexuel et d\u2019autres formes d\u2019abus, sont normaux sur le lieu de travail. Il est important d\u2019informer les jeunes de leurs droits l\u00e9gaux et de leurs possibilit\u00e9s de recours pour qu\u2019ils r\u00e9ussissent leur transition vers le march\u00e9 du travail. Un manque d\u2019information similaire existe en ce qui concerne les syndicats et leurs avantages pour les travailleurs. De nombreux jeunes ne savent pas grand-chose sur les syndicats ou ne pensent pas que les syndicats soient pertinents pour le type de travail qu\u2019ils effectuent (par exemple, \u00e0 temps partiel ou temporaire). Toutefois, au Canada et aux \u00c9tats-Unis, les jeunes travailleurs sont aujourd\u2019hui tr\u00e8s favorables \u00e0 la syndicalisation. Ils se tournent de plus en plus vers l\u2019action collective pour amplifier leur demande d\u2019un emploi de meilleure qualit\u00e9.
